A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Shiite mosque in Kabul on Friday, police said, as Muslims prepare to celebrate one of the holiest dates in the Islamic calendar. “A suicide bomber who was grazing sheep has detonated himself outside” the mosque, General Salim Almas, criminal investigative director of Kabul city, told AFP. Bayelsa communities, we will shut down Agip operations over spill, MoU

The Ijaw Youth Cuncil (IYC) worldwide has called on the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) to observe international best practices in its operations to avoid a shut down of its activities. The body wants the oil giant to comply with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered with its host communities to avoid conflicts. The President of IYC, Eric Omare, stated this after some communities in Bayelsa State threatened to shut down NAOC’s operations over a recent pipeline explosion. The Ayamassa-Toumo trunk line exploded and caught fire for two days until Agip contractors came and put off the fire without a word to the community. It caused damages to both farming and aquatic life, leaving the entire town of Ayamasa in Ekeremor local government area in palpable fear. Govt of Kaduna state obtains bench warrant against Northern youths

The Kaduna State Government on Thursday said it has obtained a bench warrant from the court to arrest members of the Coalition of Northern Youths that gave October 1, 2017 as deadline for Ndigbo in the north to quit or be forced out of the region. This was despite the withdrawal of the quit notice by the group. A coalition of Northern groups, including the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum led by Shettima Yerima had, in July, given all Igbo resident in the 19 Northern states a three-month ultimatum to quit or be forced out after the expiration of the October 1, 2017 deadline. They also asked all Northerners resident in the southeast to be prepared to return home (north).
